Linking Bank Account with your PAN serves many purposes. It is easier for the tax authorities to track your financial transactions and gives additional protection to your PAN card and helps in avoiding identity theft. Linking your PAn card with your bank account is mandatory as per the rules laid down by the Government of India. Except for the Basic Savings Account Holders in SBI, it is necessary for the account holders to link their PAN with the bank account. In case, the account-holder hasn't linked their PAN details with their bank account; they'll have to submit the Form-16, which is a self-declaration for non-possession of a PAN card.

There are two methods by which you can link your PAN with SBI bank account:

Link PAN with your SBI Bank Account Online

Follow these steps to link your PAN with SBI bank account:

  • Visit https://www.onlinesbi.com/
  • Login to the netbanking portal by providing your username and password
  • Select ‘e-services’
  • Click on the ‘PAN registration form’ option
  • Enter your profile password to be redirected to PAN registration page
  • Select transactions accounts
  • Enter registered mobile number and PAN details
  • Click on submit
  • Enter the OTP received on your registered mobile number and click on submit. 

Offline linking of PAN Card with SBI Bank Account

You can visit your SBI home branch and fill up the PAN card updation form in order to link PAN details to your SBI account via offline mode.

Follow these steps to link your PAN card with SBI bank account:

  • Visit your SBI Home Branch- the SBI branch where you opened your bank account
  • Ask for PAN Card Updation Form/KYC Form at the bank
  • Submit the following documents after filling up the KYC form:

KYC/PAN Card Update Form

Photocopy of PAN card which is self-attested

Letter addressed to the Branch Manager requesting the update of PAN Card details in your bank account
