MCX is an acronym of Multi-commodity Exchange of India Limited. It is the first registered exchange in India. MCX provides a platform for online trading, settlement, risk control and clearing of commodity derivative trades.

MCX operates all five weekdays and remains closed on all weekends. Additionally, there are a few other MCX holidays that are pre-announced. The following are the MCX holidays in 2019:

Note: The timing of the evening trading session is revised twice a year to conform to the US timings. The evening session closes at 11:30 PM during summer and 11:55 PM. during the winter.

Diwali ‘Muhurat’ Trading 2019 (Lakshmi Pooja)

On 27 - 10 - 2019, which falls on Sunday, Muhurat Trading shall be organized for the commodity segment. Muhurat Trading shall be organized by the MCX exchange on Sunday, 27 - 10 - 2019 for the currency trading segment. The exchange declares the timings of Muhurat Trading later on. On Diwali Festival, future contracts for all types of financial derivatives shall be available for Muhurat Trading.

Overview of MCX

A comprehensive commodity derivatives exchange, COMEX began its operations in November 2003.) The functioning of MCX is regulated by Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI, which facilitates the trade of commodity derivative contracts throughout a huge range of industry lines. MCX operates in over 1,200 cities in India. It has a network of 669 members and 51,575 certified individuals.

MCX Products

Bullion, base metals, energy and agricultural commodities are the four categories of products offered by MCX. Bullion includes gold and silver variations; base metals include zinc, nickel, aluminum, brass, lead, and their varieties. The energy section comprises natural gas, unrefined oil, and crude oil. The agricultural commodities that MCX provides are cotton, black pepper, mentha oil, cardamom, and crude palm oil.
