About Chandigarh

Chandigarh is a Union Territory in north India as well as a unique city. It functions as the capital of both Punjab and Haryana. However, it is doesn’t belong to the territorial or administrative boundaries of either. The city derives its name from the words - 'Chandi' which refers to a Goddess and ‘Garh’ which means a fortress. It refers to an ancient temple of Goddess Chandi located in Panchkula District. The city lies in the lap of the Shivalik range. Spread across 114 km, Chandigarh shares borders with both Haryana and Punjab. The city is known for its architecture, design and urban planning.
