Process to Register a Vehicle in AP RTO

For a vehicle to be allocated a registration number in Andhra Pradesh, it has to be registered by any RTO officer of the state. Under the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988, for an individual to drive a vehicle on the public roads, it must first be registered in an RTO of the state. A person who is residing in Andhra Pradesh can procure a unique registration number for his/her vehicle by following the process described below.

Procedure for Acquiring Registration Number from RTO in Andhra Pradesh

You must submit the necessary documents online:

• You can apply for the online vehicle registration in the state through Form 20.

• Form 20 also includes the inspection certificate for the vehicle.

Other documents that should be submitted along with Form 20 for the RTO registration are:

• Form 21 (includes sales certificate)

• Form 22 (self-declaration of the applicant stating they would comply with the pollution standards and safety procedures).

• Form 22A (If the vehicle's body has been fabricated separately, then the applicant must fill up this form).

• Proof of vehicle insurance

• For a trailer or semi-trailer, the design approval certificate that is issued by STA must be provided.

• Sales certificate has to be included in Form 21 if the applicant is ex-army personnel.

• The applicant must have acquired the pollution under control certificate.

• If the vehicle has been imported, then the customs clearance certificate must be provided.
