Vijayawada, known as Bezawada in the local language, is located on the banks of Krishna river in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. Vijayawada is the 2nd most populous city in the state and it will soon become one of the satellite cities to the new state capital. The city works as a gateway to the rest of the country for the coastal agrarian regions of Andhra Pradesh. It also boasts of a high GDP. Vijayawada is surrounded by River Krishna which contributes to the fertile agricultural soil. Prakasham Barrage is one of the most recognizable and well-known landmarks of the city. The latest administration of the city is carried out by dividing the city into 59 wards. The economy in the city depends on agriculture along with other modern industries such as textile, automobile, hardware, consumer goods and other SMEs. the Prathama Bank is the first regional rural bank in India, sponsored by the Syndicate Bank in Moradabad district Uttar Pradesh on 2 October 1975. Its stocks of Syndicate Bank are listed on Bombay Stock Exchange, National Stock Exchange, and Bangalore Stock Exchange. The Bank did a partnership with UNEP for initiating successful solar loan program. The solar loan program was launched in April 2003 to promote financing of solar home systems in southern India. The 3 RRBs are sponsored by the Syndicate bank presently, and all are making a profit by generating the total business of Rs.42101 crore with 1348 branches as on 31st March 2015. The Syndicate Bank has repositioned its Logo by changing the color combinations, as a part of the brand building exercise. The combinations of Orange, Yellow, Black & White colors make the logo unique. The primary objective of logo repositioning is to provide a more clear understanding of what the organization stands for, earn loyalty from its customers, establishing a brand identity, and also to give the logo a more contemporary look in a continuously changing & dynamic business environment. The bank is hiring approximately 3000 young officers for replacing the officers getting retired. On November 7, 2017, Syndicate Bank created a human chain to spread awareness among the public for fighting with corruption. 14196 financial literacy programmes were organized to promote financial literacy in the villages, during the year 2015, in which 5.74 lakh persons were benefitted. Under PMJDY, the Bank has opened 3496559 number of accounts with a balance of Rs. 505 crore as on 31st March 2015.
