Tumkur is an industrial city in the Indian state of Karnataka. It has been officially renamed to Tumakuru. The city is also known by the names of Shaikshanika Nagari which means the city of education and Kalpatharu Nadu which means land of coconut trees. Tumkur has received the status of a City Corporation. It functions as the headquarters of the Tumkur district. Tumkur has Indias first mega food park which was inaugurated in 2014. It was a project of the ministry of food processing. Tumkurs economy is majorly dependent upon agriculture. Cultivation of crops such as coconut, paddy and areca nut, contributes to its economy. There are quite a few reputed educational institutions and places of tourist interest in and around Tumkur.
the Prathama Bank is the first regional rural bank in India, sponsored by the Syndicate Bank in Moradabad district Uttar Pradesh on 2 October 1975. Its stocks of Syndicate Bank are listed on Bombay Stock Exchange, National Stock Exchange, and Bangalore Stock Exchange. The Bank did a partnership with UNEP for initiating successful solar loan program. The solar loan program was launched in April 2003 to promote financing of solar home systems in southern India. The 3 RRBs are sponsored by the Syndicate bank presently, and all are making a profit by generating the total business of Rs.42101 crore with 1348 branches as on 31st March 2015. The Syndicate Bank has repositioned its Logo by changing the color combinations, as a part of the brand building exercise. The combinations of Orange, Yellow, Black & White colors make the logo unique. The primary objective of logo repositioning is to provide a more clear understanding of what the organization stands for, earn loyalty from its customers, establishing a brand identity, and also to give the logo a more contemporary look in a continuously changing & dynamic business environment. The bank is hiring approximately 3000 young officers for replacing the officers getting retired. On November 7, 2017, Syndicate Bank created a human chain to spread awareness among the public for fighting with corruption. 14196 financial literacy programmes were organized to promote financial literacy in the villages, during the year 2015, in which 5.74 lakh persons were benefitted. Under PMJDY, the Bank has opened 3496559 number of accounts with a balance of Rs. 505 crore as on 31st March 2015.
