The towns of Sangli, Miraj and Kupwad in the Sangli district of the Indian state of Maharashtra were clubbed together to form a small city. With a population of about half a million, Sangli-Miraj-Kupwad is considered to be the largest municipal corporation in South Maharashtra. This mini-metropolitan city is governed by the Sangli-Miraj-Kupwad Municipal Corporation, which is made of democratically elected members, headed by a mayor. The town of Sangli is to be found on the banks of river Krishna. Miraj is a major railway junction, a major healthcare center as well as an export hub of various Indian musical instruments. Kupwad, a small town earlier, is an industrial area harboring many foundries, oil manufacturing units, spinning mills, chocolate factories, cold storage, etc. Notable foundries located in this area are Tulsi foundry and J sons foundry. The famous chocolate manufacturer, Lotte, has its factory in this city. Spinning mills like Toto Toya spin ltd, oil manufacturers like Chakan oil mills are also based out of Kupawad. The city has a mixed group of multi-cultural residents who speak in various languages including Marathi, Urdu, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi.
the Prathama Bank is the first regional rural bank in India, sponsored by the Syndicate Bank in Moradabad district Uttar Pradesh on 2 October 1975. Its stocks of Syndicate Bank are listed on Bombay Stock Exchange, National Stock Exchange, and Bangalore Stock Exchange. The Bank did a partnership with UNEP for initiating successful solar loan program. The solar loan program was launched in April 2003 to promote financing of solar home systems in southern India. The 3 RRBs are sponsored by the Syndicate bank presently, and all are making a profit by generating the total business of Rs.42101 crore with 1348 branches as on 31st March 2015. The Syndicate Bank has repositioned its Logo by changing the color combinations, as a part of the brand building exercise. The combinations of Orange, Yellow, Black & White colors make the logo unique. The primary objective of logo repositioning is to provide a more clear understanding of what the organization stands for, earn loyalty from its customers, establishing a brand identity, and also to give the logo a more contemporary look in a continuously changing & dynamic business environment. The bank is hiring approximately 3000 young officers for replacing the officers getting retired. On November 7, 2017, Syndicate Bank created a human chain to spread awareness among the public for fighting with corruption. 14196 financial literacy programmes were organized to promote financial literacy in the villages, during the year 2015, in which 5.74 lakh persons were benefitted. Under PMJDY, the Bank has opened 3496559 number of accounts with a balance of Rs. 505 crore as on 31st March 2015.
