Rampur is a city located in the Rampur District of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. A rich and thriving city earlier, Rampur was known for its industries like sugar refining and cotton milling. Its famous library has over 12000 rare manuscripts and an excellent collection of Mughal miniature paintings. It functions as the administrative headquarters of the Rampur District and hosts a majority of Muslim population. It is often referred to as the city of Nawabs. Rampur is famous for unique long-bladed knives known as "Rampuri chaaku," which has been recently banned by the state government. The Nawabs of Rampur were highly fond of poetry and other fine arts. Hence, the city is famous for its Urdu poetry which has come to be known as the Rampuri school of poetry. The city is also known for the Rampur-Sahaswan gharana of Hindustani classical music. The rulers of Rampur have gifted the city with architectural wonders - the Rampur Fort, the Jama Masjid, the Shahbad Gate, the Nawab Gate are a few to name. The economy of Rampur is driven by its major cash crop called mentha which aids in the manufacture of menthol oil. The kite-making industry is a prime industry in Rampur; artisans make hand-made kites of various sizes and shapes that are popular all over the state.
the Prathama Bank is the first regional rural bank in India, sponsored by the Syndicate Bank in Moradabad district Uttar Pradesh on 2 October 1975. Its stocks of Syndicate Bank are listed on Bombay Stock Exchange, National Stock Exchange, and Bangalore Stock Exchange. The Bank did a partnership with UNEP for initiating successful solar loan program. The solar loan program was launched in April 2003 to promote financing of solar home systems in southern India. The 3 RRBs are sponsored by the Syndicate bank presently, and all are making a profit by generating the total business of Rs.42101 crore with 1348 branches as on 31st March 2015. The Syndicate Bank has repositioned its Logo by changing the color combinations, as a part of the brand building exercise. The combinations of Orange, Yellow, Black & White colors make the logo unique. The primary objective of logo repositioning is to provide a more clear understanding of what the organization stands for, earn loyalty from its customers, establishing a brand identity, and also to give the logo a more contemporary look in a continuously changing & dynamic business environment. The bank is hiring approximately 3000 young officers for replacing the officers getting retired. On November 7, 2017, Syndicate Bank created a human chain to spread awareness among the public for fighting with corruption. 14196 financial literacy programmes were organized to promote financial literacy in the villages, during the year 2015, in which 5.74 lakh persons were benefitted. Under PMJDY, the Bank has opened 3496559 number of accounts with a balance of Rs. 505 crore as on 31st March 2015.
