Panchkula is a well-planned city located in the Indian state of Haryana. It lies adjacent to the union territory of Chandigarh and Mohali. Panchkula is a part of Greater Chandigarh which is also called the Chandigarh capital region. The Chandigarh-Mohali-Panchkula metropolitan area together forms a Chandigarh Tricity, which has a combined population of over 2 million. Panchkula alone has an approximate population of more than 5.5 lakh people. Panchkula hosts the Chandimandir Cantonment, the headquarters of the Indian Armys Western Command. The word "Panchkula" is derived from the words panch which means five in Sanskrit and kula which is the Sanskrit word for canals. Therefore the name of the city possibly refers to the five irrigation canals which distribute water to several parts of the city from the Ghaggar-Hakra River. The IT Park at Panchkula is a state of art infrastructure that aims to facilitate information technology in the city. The IT Park is spread over a vast expanse of 74 acres of land and is situates on the foothills of Shivalik Hills. It provides employment opportunities to the residents as well as migrants from other parts of the country. Tourism is another great source of economic growth. The places in and around Panchkula that are worth visiting are Pinjore Gardens, National Cactus and Succulent Botanical Garden and Research Centre, Kaushalya Dam, Khol Hi-Raitan Wildlife Sanctuary, Bir Shikargah Wildlife Sanctuary, and several temples.

Its stocks of Syndicate Bank are listed on Bombay Stock Exchange, National Stock Exchange, and Bangalore Stock Exchange. The Bank did a partnership with UNEP for initiating successful solar loan program. The solar loan program was launched in April 2003 to promote financing of solar home systems in southern India. The 3 RRBs are sponsored by the Syndicate bank presently, and all are making a profit by generating the total business of Rs.42101 crore with 1348 branches as on 31st March 2015. The Syndicate Bank has repositioned its Logo by changing the color combinations, as a part of the brand building exercise. The combinations of Orange, Yellow, Black & White colors make the logo unique. The primary objective of logo repositioning is to provide a more clear understanding of what the organization stands for, earn loyalty from its customers, establishing a brand identity, and also to give the logo a more contemporary look in a continuously changing & dynamic business environment. The bank is hiring approximately 3000 young officers for replacing the officers getting retired. On November 7, 2017, Syndicate Bank created a human chain to spread awareness among the public for fighting with corruption. 14196 financial literacy programmes were organized to promote financial literacy in the villages, during the year 2015, in which 5.74 lakh persons were benefitted. Under PMJDY, the Bank has opened 3496559 number of accounts with a balance of Rs. 505 crore as on 31st March 2015.
