Morbi or Morvi is situated in the Morbi district of Gujarat. It used to be a Princely State that was ruled by the Ranas of Rajputs before the Indian independence in 1947. During the British era, the Morvi State was one among the several princely states that were governed by the Jadeja dynasty of Rajputs. The city is on the Kathiawar peninsula and is situated on the Machhu River. The dam on this river caused the Morbi disaster in 1979 when the Machu-2 dam burst, sending an enormous wall of water through the town and flooded Morbi. As of the latest census, Morbi has around 2 lakh residents who speak in Gujarati. Morbi experienced dynamic development n between 1922 and 1948, during which Sir Lakhdhiraji Waghji ensured commendable town planning and constructed many heritage buildings in and around the city. Morbi is known for its production of ceramic items and Compact Fluorescent Lamp. Moreover, the city is known to be the largest manufacturers of wall clocks in India.
the Prathama Bank is the first regional rural bank in India, sponsored by the Syndicate Bank in Moradabad district Uttar Pradesh on 2 October 1975. Its stocks of Syndicate Bank are listed on Bombay Stock Exchange, National Stock Exchange, and Bangalore Stock Exchange. The Bank did a partnership with UNEP for initiating successful solar loan program. The solar loan program was launched in April 2003 to promote financing of solar home systems in southern India. The 3 RRBs are sponsored by the Syndicate bank presently, and all are making a profit by generating the total business of Rs.42101 crore with 1348 branches as on 31st March 2015. The Syndicate Bank has repositioned its Logo by changing the color combinations, as a part of the brand building exercise. The combinations of Orange, Yellow, Black & White colors make the logo unique. The primary objective of logo repositioning is to provide a more clear understanding of what the organization stands for, earn loyalty from its customers, establishing a brand identity, and also to give the logo a more contemporary look in a continuously changing & dynamic business environment. The bank is hiring approximately 3000 young officers for replacing the officers getting retired. On November 7, 2017, Syndicate Bank created a human chain to spread awareness among the public for fighting with corruption. 14196 financial literacy programmes were organized to promote financial literacy in the villages, during the year 2015, in which 5.74 lakh persons were benefitted. Under PMJDY, the Bank has opened 3496559 number of accounts with a balance of Rs. 505 crore as on 31st March 2015.
