Latur, also known as Lattaluru, is an emerging city in the Marathwada region of the Indian state of Maharashtra. The city is close to the state boundary of Maharashtra and Karnataka, on the Balaghat plateau. It functions as the administrative headquarter of the Latur district. The city is a celebrated tourist hub as its historical monuments and the famous Kharosa Caves attract many visitors. Over the centuries, the place was ruled by various great rulers such as the Satavahanas, the Sakas, the Yadavas of Deogiri, the Delhi Sultans, the Chalukyas, the Bahamani rulers of South India, the Mughals, Adilshahi, etc. Latur is a major producer of sugarcane, edible oils, soybean, grapes and mango production. The Keshar Amba variety of mango was developed in the Latur region. Latur is the largest trading center for soybean in India. The city is within the sugar Belt of Maharashtra as it houses more than eleven sugar factories. It also has a thriving market for fruits, oilseeds and commodities. There are many industrial units for agro-processing, edible oils, consumer durables, aluminum processing, plastic processing, agriculture and biotech. It has many cold storage facilities that are privately owned as well as owned by the state.

The Bank did a partnership with UNEP for initiating successful solar loan program. The solar loan program was launched in April 2003 to promote financing of solar home systems in southern India. The 3 RRBs are sponsored by the Syndicate bank presently, and all are making a profit by generating the total business of Rs.42101 crore with 1348 branches as on 31st March 2015. The Syndicate Bank has repositioned its Logo by changing the color combinations, as a part of the brand building exercise. The combinations of Orange, Yellow, Black & White colors make the logo unique. The primary objective of logo repositioning is to provide a more clear understanding of what the organization stands for, earn loyalty from its customers, establishing a brand identity, and also to give the logo a more contemporary look in a continuously changing & dynamic business environment. The bank is hiring approximately 3000 young officers for replacing the officers getting retired. On November 7, 2017, Syndicate Bank created a human chain to spread awareness among the public for fighting with corruption. 14196 financial literacy programmes were organized to promote financial literacy in the villages, during the year 2015, in which 5.74 lakh persons were benefitted. Under PMJDY, the Bank has opened 3496559 number of accounts with a balance of Rs. 505 crore as on 31st March 2015.
