Jodhpur, the second metropolitan in the state of Rajasthan, is popularly known as the "Sun City" for its bright weather. It is situated in the North-western edge of the country near the Thar Desert. It is a very popular tourist destination in India with myriad palaces, forts and temples. Jodhpur city is the administrative headquarters of Jodhpur District. According to Hindu epic Mahabharata, the city was the heart of the kingdom of Marwar. The Ahirs were the original inhabitants of Jodhpur. Later the Rajputs settled in this region after the intermittent dominance of the Marathas and the British. The current administration of the city takes place under its 65 wards under the Jodhpur Nagar Nigam which is headed by a mayor. Tourism is the main source of the economy as it fuels the handicraft industry as well as local businesses. Bajra (pearl millet), Rabi, wheat, pulses and a variety of spices like jeera, dhania and red chilies are the major crops grown in Jodhpur. The city is a major hub of many educational institutions like Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur (IITJ), AIIMS Jodhpur, NIFT Jodhpur, National Law University Jodhpur, All India Institute of Medical Sciences Jodhpur. The places which attract tourist are Mehrangarh Fort, Jaswant Thada, Umaid Bhawan Palace Museum, clock towers among others.
the Prathama Bank is the first regional rural bank in India, sponsored by the Syndicate Bank in Moradabad district Uttar Pradesh on 2 October 1975. Its stocks of Syndicate Bank are listed on Bombay Stock Exchange, National Stock Exchange, and Bangalore Stock Exchange. The Bank did a partnership with UNEP for initiating successful solar loan program. The solar loan program was launched in April 2003 to promote financing of solar home systems in southern India. The 3 RRBs are sponsored by the Syndicate bank presently, and all are making a profit by generating the total business of Rs.42101 crore with 1348 branches as on 31st March 2015. The Syndicate Bank has repositioned its Logo by changing the color combinations, as a part of the brand building exercise. The combinations of Orange, Yellow, Black & White colors make the logo unique. The primary objective of logo repositioning is to provide a more clear understanding of what the organization stands for, earn loyalty from its customers, establishing a brand identity, and also to give the logo a more contemporary look in a continuously changing & dynamic business environment. The bank is hiring approximately 3000 young officers for replacing the officers getting retired. On November 7, 2017, Syndicate Bank created a human chain to spread awareness among the public for fighting with corruption. 14196 financial literacy programmes were organized to promote financial literacy in the villages, during the year 2015, in which 5.74 lakh persons were benefitted. Under PMJDY, the Bank has opened 3496559 number of accounts with a balance of Rs. 505 crore as on 31st March 2015.
