Cuttack is the commercial capital as well as the second largest city in the Indian state of Odisha. The city center is situated between the Mahanadi river and the Kathajodi river. The city is developing and expanding constantly. Odishas high court is located Cuttack, making it the judicial capital of the state. Cuttack city is divided into 54 administrative wards headed by an elected representative. The economy of the city was traditionally fuelled by trade facilitated by strong textile industry. Currently there are many large-scale industries of the steel, power, automobile and alloys which contribute to the economy as well as cater to the employment needs of the city. Cuttack is soon growing into a hub for the IT and BPO sectors. SEZs or Special Economic Zones are being established in the area to attract a good number of players in the software sector. Its stocks of Syndicate Bank are listed on Bombay Stock Exchange, National Stock Exchange, and Bangalore Stock Exchange. The Bank did a partnership with UNEP for initiating successful solar loan program. The solar loan program was launched in April 2003 to promote financing of solar home systems in southern India. The 3 RRBs are sponsored by the Syndicate bank presently, and all are making a profit by generating the total business of Rs.42101 crore with 1348 branches as on 31st March 2015. The Syndicate Bank has repositioned its Logo by changing the color combinations, as a part of the brand building exercise. The combinations of Orange, Yellow, Black & White colors make the logo unique. The primary objective of logo repositioning is to provide a more clear understanding of what the organization stands for, earn loyalty from its customers, establishing a brand identity, and also to give the logo a more contemporary look in a continuously changing & dynamic business environment. The bank is hiring approximately 3000 young officers for replacing the officers getting retired. On November 7, 2017, Syndicate Bank created a human chain to spread awareness among the public for fighting with corruption. 14196 financial literacy programmes were organized to promote financial literacy in the villages, during the year 2015, in which 5.74 lakh persons were benefitted. Under PMJDY, the Bank has opened 3496559 number of accounts with a balance of Rs. 505 crore as on 31st March 2015.
