The city of Chittoor is also the district headquarter of the Chittoor district in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh and thus there are many district-level government institutions in this city. Chittoor also functions as the headquarters of the Chittoor Mandal and the Chittoor revenue division. The city has a population of more than 3.5 lakh residents who majorly speak in Telugu. However, the city also houses many Tamil, Kannada and Marathi speaking people. Chittoor is located in the southernmost part of Andhra Pradesh, on the banks of River Neeva. The economy of Chittoor is predominantly run by its agro-market. The city witnesses the production and trade of mango, grain, sugarcane and peanut. Tomato farming in Chittoor contributes to over 20% of the States production of tomatoes. The other industries in the region include oilseed, poultry and milk. It is the second largest milk producing district in the state and has an expansive dairy industry. Chittoor is also known for its textile industry. Silk is weaved in 13,000 power looms, providing employment to more than 40,000 workers. The granite industry is also known for its production of black, pink and grey granites. The historical Chandragiri Fort from the 11th century is the most notable landmark near Chittoor. Ardhagiri Anjaneyaswamy temple and Swayambu Varasidhi Vinayakaswamy temple are other notable landmarks in and around Chittoor.

Its stocks of Syndicate Bank are listed on Bombay Stock Exchange, National Stock Exchange, and Bangalore Stock Exchange. The Bank did a partnership with UNEP for initiating successful solar loan program. The solar loan program was launched in April 2003 to promote financing of solar home systems in southern India. The 3 RRBs are sponsored by the Syndicate bank presently, and all are making a profit by generating the total business of Rs.42101 crore with 1348 branches as on 31st March 2015. The Syndicate Bank has repositioned its Logo by changing the color combinations, as a part of the brand building exercise. The combinations of Orange, Yellow, Black & White colors make the logo unique. The primary objective of logo repositioning is to provide a more clear understanding of what the organization stands for, earn loyalty from its customers, establishing a brand identity, and also to give the logo a more contemporary look in a continuously changing & dynamic business environment. The bank is hiring approximately 3000 young officers for replacing the officers getting retired. On November 7, 2017, Syndicate Bank created a human chain to spread awareness among the public for fighting with corruption. 14196 financial literacy programmes were organized to promote financial literacy in the villages, during the year 2015, in which 5.74 lakh persons were benefitted. Under PMJDY, the Bank has opened 3496559 number of accounts with a balance of Rs. 505 crore as on 31st March 2015.
