Bidhannagar, in the Indian state of West Bengal, is popularly known as Salt Lake City. It is a planned satellite town that was developed between 1958 and 1965 in order to accommodate the growing population of Kolkata. It is a small-sized neighbor of Kolkata and is connected to the metro city via Eastern Metropolitan Bypass. The city is well planned and organized into numerous blocks. The city is also well divided into academic, commercial and residential zones. Sector 5 of Bidhannagar houses the IT sector of Kolkata where leading MNCs have set up their offices. There are several prestigious academic institutions in the area such as All India Institute of Hygiene and Public Health, Government College of Engineering and Leather Technology, Aliah University, Bidhannagar College, National Institute of Fashion Technology, Institute of Engineering and Management, West Bengal University of Technology, etc. Apart from the thriving IT industry, Bidhannagar houses several government offices, especially of the West Bengal State Education Board. The residents of the area are either employed in the IT and government sectors within the city or travel to the adjoining metro city of Kolkata for work. West Bengals only International football stadium, the Yuva Bharati Krirangan is located in this area.
the Prathama Bank is the first regional rural bank in India, sponsored by the Syndicate Bank in Moradabad district Uttar Pradesh on 2 October 1975. Its stocks of Syndicate Bank are listed on Bombay Stock Exchange, National Stock Exchange, and Bangalore Stock Exchange. The Bank did a partnership with UNEP for initiating successful solar loan program. The solar loan program was launched in April 2003 to promote financing of solar home systems in southern India. The 3 RRBs are sponsored by the Syndicate bank presently, and all are making a profit by generating the total business of Rs.42101 crore with 1348 branches as on 31st March 2015. The Syndicate Bank has repositioned its Logo by changing the color combinations, as a part of the brand building exercise. The combinations of Orange, Yellow, Black & White colors make the logo unique. The primary objective of logo repositioning is to provide a more clear understanding of what the organization stands for, earn loyalty from its customers, establishing a brand identity, and also to give the logo a more contemporary look in a continuously changing & dynamic business environment. The bank is hiring approximately 3000 young officers for replacing the officers getting retired. On November 7, 2017, Syndicate Bank created a human chain to spread awareness among the public for fighting with corruption. 14196 financial literacy programmes were organized to promote financial literacy in the villages, during the year 2015, in which 5.74 lakh persons were benefitted. Under PMJDY, the Bank has opened 3496559 number of accounts with a balance of Rs. 505 crore as on 31st March 2015.
