The Indian city of Belgaum is a city in the northern part of the state of Karnataka and lies along the Western Ghats. The Government of Karnataka intends on making Belgaum the second capital of Karnataka. It is being developed into a smart city. The city was earlier known as Venugram which means Bamboo village in Sanskrit. The city has recently acquired a new name as "Kunda Nagari" for its famous sweet dish called "Kunda" which is made of milk, sugar and spices. The city is also known for its sugarcane cultivation and production and is hence often referred to as the "Sugar Bowl of Karnataka" or the "Sugar District." The Government of Karnataka officially changed the name of the city to Belagavi on 1st November 2014. Belgaum experiences a pleasant climate throughout the year and hosts around 6 lakh residents. The city receives heavy rainfall and has abundantly available water due to the rivers in the vicinity. Hence, the fertile soil supports the cultivation of various vegetables and fruits. Belgaum is also a source of poultry, meat and fish. The mining industry also thrives in the area due to the availability of aluminum and uranium ores. The city hosts prestigious educational institutes like the Visvesvaraya Technological University, Karnataka Law Society and Rani Channamma University.

Its stocks of Syndicate Bank are listed on Bombay Stock Exchange, National Stock Exchange, and Bangalore Stock Exchange. The Bank did a partnership with UNEP for initiating successful solar loan program. The solar loan program was launched in April 2003 to promote financing of solar home systems in southern India. The 3 RRBs are sponsored by the Syndicate bank presently, and all are making a profit by generating the total business of Rs.42101 crore with 1348 branches as on 31st March 2015. The Syndicate Bank has repositioned its Logo by changing the color combinations, as a part of the brand building exercise. The combinations of Orange, Yellow, Black & White colors make the logo unique. The primary objective of logo repositioning is to provide a more clear understanding of what the organization stands for, earn loyalty from its customers, establishing a brand identity, and also to give the logo a more contemporary look in a continuously changing & dynamic business environment. The bank is hiring approximately 3000 young officers for replacing the officers getting retired. On November 7, 2017, Syndicate Bank created a human chain to spread awareness among the public for fighting with corruption. 14196 financial literacy programmes were organized to promote financial literacy in the villages, during the year 2015, in which 5.74 lakh persons were benefitted. Under PMJDY, the Bank has opened 3496559 number of accounts with a balance of Rs. 505 crore as on 31st March 2015.
