Asansol, a city in the Burdwan district of the Indian state of West Bengal, is the states second largest city in terms of area and population. It is a Tier-II city which rapidly developing. The city has derived its name from two words - "Asan" refers to a 30 meters tall found near River Damodar and "Sol" refers to land. Thus, these two words combine to form the name of this city which is incredibly rich in minerals. This cosmopolitan city is located on the lower Chota Nagpur Plateau and it shares the border with the Dhanbad district in the adjoining state of Jharkhand. The economy of this city is principally dependent on its steel and coal industries. The IISCO or Indian Iron and Steel Company Ltd steel-making plant at Kulti in Asansol was the first of such facility in India and is undergoing major renovations to come back with doubled production rate. Eastern Coalfields has a significant presence in the Asansol due to the enormous deposits of high-quality coal in and around the city. The railway is a big contributor to Asansols economy as many residents are employed in the Chittaranjan Locomotive Works which is one of the worlds largest locomotive manufacturers.
the Prathama Bank is the first regional rural bank in India, sponsored by the Syndicate Bank in Moradabad district Uttar Pradesh on 2 October 1975. Its stocks of Syndicate Bank are listed on Bombay Stock Exchange, National Stock Exchange, and Bangalore Stock Exchange. The Bank did a partnership with UNEP for initiating successful solar loan program. The solar loan program was launched in April 2003 to promote financing of solar home systems in southern India. The 3 RRBs are sponsored by the Syndicate bank presently, and all are making a profit by generating the total business of Rs.42101 crore with 1348 branches as on 31st March 2015. The Syndicate Bank has repositioned its Logo by changing the color combinations, as a part of the brand building exercise. The combinations of Orange, Yellow, Black & White colors make the logo unique. The primary objective of logo repositioning is to provide a more clear understanding of what the organization stands for, earn loyalty from its customers, establishing a brand identity, and also to give the logo a more contemporary look in a continuously changing & dynamic business environment. The bank is hiring approximately 3000 young officers for replacing the officers getting retired. On November 7, 2017, Syndicate Bank created a human chain to spread awareness among the public for fighting with corruption. 14196 financial literacy programmes were organized to promote financial literacy in the villages, during the year 2015, in which 5.74 lakh persons were benefitted. Under PMJDY, the Bank has opened 3496559 number of accounts with a balance of Rs. 505 crore as on 31st March 2015.
