Anand is the administrative center of the eponymous district in the Indian state of Gujarat. It is situated in the Charotar region which consists of the Anand and Kheda Districts. This city is popularly known as the Milk Capital of India as it was the seat of the milk revolution started by Verghese Kurien who established the first plant of AMUL at Anand in 1946. The Head Office of Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd is located in Anand. There are many other reputed organizations based in this area such as NDDB of India, Vidya Dairy, the Institute of Rural Management Anand and the Anand Agricultural University. Vallabh Vidhyanagar, an educational suburb of Anand, is home to thousands of students from all over India. The vibrant economy of the Anand ranges from farming to large-scale industries. Major crops that are grown in the area are tobacco and banana. Dairy farming is the leading source of economy in Anand. Vitthal Udhyog Nagar, a huge industrial belt located on the outskirts of Anand, has many famous industries such as Elecon Engineering, Vulcan Industrial Engineering Co. the Prathama Bank is the first regional rural bank in India, sponsored by the Syndicate Bank in Moradabad district Uttar Pradesh on 2 October 1975. Its stocks of Syndicate Bank are listed on Bombay Stock Exchange, National Stock Exchange, and Bangalore Stock Exchange. The Bank did a partnership with UNEP for initiating successful solar loan program. The solar loan program was launched in April 2003 to promote financing of solar home systems in southern India. The 3 RRBs are sponsored by the Syndicate bank presently, and all are making a profit by generating the total business of Rs.42101 crore with 1348 branches as on 31st March 2015. The Syndicate Bank has repositioned its Logo by changing the color combinations, as a part of the brand building exercise. The combinations of Orange, Yellow, Black & White colors make the logo unique. The primary objective of logo repositioning is to provide a more clear understanding of what the organization stands for, earn loyalty from its customers, establishing a brand identity, and also to give the logo a more contemporary look in a continuously changing & dynamic business environment. On November 7, 2017, Syndicate Bank created a human chain to spread awareness among the public for fighting with corruption. 14196 financial literacy programmes were organized to promote financial literacy in the villages, during the year 2015, in which 5.74 lakh persons were benefitted. Under PMJDY, the Bank has opened 3496559 number of accounts with a balance of Rs. 505 crore as on 31st March 2015.
