Akola is a city in the Vidarbha region of the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is known for being one of the largest producers of cotton in the entire country and has hence received the nickname of the Cotton City. It is a striking road and rail junction near the Tapti River valley, which is also a commercial trading center chiefly for cotton. The city with roughly 5 lakh people, is governed by Akola Municipal Corporation. The city lies near the Tropic of Cancer and experiences a tropical humid climate and the residents are mostly found donning plain cotton clothes. Akola city is known for its many agricultural universities alongside veterinary colleges, engineering, medical and normal degree colleges. Cotton production and textile industry chiefly drive the economy of Akola. Akola has a very good grain market which contributes to the citys economy. The city has mills for pulses and oil. The IT sector is also growing at a fast pace. Standing on the banks of the Morna River, the city of Akola is rapidly developing.
the Prathama Bank is the first regional rural bank in India, sponsored by the Syndicate Bank in Moradabad district Uttar Pradesh on 2 October 1975. Its stocks of Syndicate Bank are listed on Bombay Stock Exchange, National Stock Exchange, and Bangalore Stock Exchange. The Bank did a partnership with UNEP for initiating successful solar loan program. The solar loan program was launched in April 2003 to promote financing of solar home systems in southern India. The 3 RRBs are sponsored by the Syndicate bank presently, and all are making a profit by generating the total business of Rs.42101 crore with 1348 branches as on 31st March 2015. The Syndicate Bank has repositioned its Logo by changing the color combinations, as a part of the brand building exercise. The combinations of Orange, Yellow, Black & White colors make the logo unique. The primary objective of logo repositioning is to provide a more clear understanding of what the organization stands for, earn loyalty from its customers, establishing a brand identity, and also to give the logo a more contemporary look in a continuously changing & dynamic business environment. The bank is hiring approximately 3000 young officers for replacing the officers getting retired. On November 7, 2017, Syndicate Bank created a human chain to spread awareness among the public for fighting with corruption. 14196 financial literacy programmes were organized to promote financial literacy in the villages, during the year 2015, in which 5.74 lakh persons were benefitted. Under PMJDY, the Bank has opened 3496559 number of accounts with a balance of Rs. 505 crore as on 31st March 2015.
