Bareilly is a metro city in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It is located in Rohilkhand on the banks of the Ramganga. It is around 250 kilometers away from the state capital Lucknow as well as from the country capital Delhi. It is one of the few largest metropolia in the state which is being developed into a smart city. According to the Hindu epic Mahabharata, Bareilly was earlier known as Panchala and is believed to be the birthplace of Draupadi, who was also called Panchali. Bareilly is also known by the name Nath Nagri for the seven Shiva temples located in the region, namely - Dhopeshwar Nath, Madhi Nath, Tapeshwar Nath, Bankhandi Nath, Alakha Nath, Pashupati Nath and Trivati Nath. Apart from these Hindu temples, the city also has quite a few mosques. The economy of this city is fuelled by furniture manufacturing. Cultivation and trade of cotton, cereal and sugar also adds to the economic growth of Bareilly. The city is also known as Bans-Bareilly, named after two princes: Bansaldev and Baraldev, who had founded the city in 1537. Hindi and Urdu are the commonly spoken languages in the city, but some residents also speak in Punjabi and Kumaoni.
Ratnakar Bank was founded in August 1943. According to Business World-PWC Best Bank Survey, it was rated as the fastest growing small bank simultaneously in the year 2013, 2014 and 2015. In the year 2013, it bought a particular business of the Royal Bank of Scotland due to which 1.5 lakh of RBS customers moved to RBL Bank. In the year 2016, it acquired a 30% stake in Swadharv Finserve Pvt Ltd.RBL bank started the first credit card for Gold enthusiasts in association with Indian Gold Union. To support the government campaigns such as Make In India and Startup India, the RBL Bank came up with the Startup Club to fulfill the end to end banking needs of the emerging entrepreneurial community. It has also started the financial literacy program referred to as "Shaksham" in association with CDC to provide education to 25000 individuals and 300 villages in the four districts of MP. The RBL bank has also been a banking partner for the Delhi Daredevils. RBL even started another financial literacy program "Swadhaar Finaccess" for women from lower-income communities in association with Swadhaar Information and Management Services in Gujarat and Mumbai.
