Raipur is the capital city as well as the largest urban agglomerate in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh. It was a part of Madhya Pradesh before the new state of Chhattisgarh was formed in November 2000. Naya Raipur or New Raipur is actually the new capital of the state which is 17 kilometers away from the older city of Raipur. Swami Vivekananda Airport separates these two cities. This city is the administrative headquarters of Raipur District. The current administration is based on its division into 72 wards which are managed by an elected representative. The source of Raipurs economy is mainly from agriculture. Crops like pulses, wheat, paddy, urad, peas, etc. are cultivated widely. Soybean, Alsi and groundnut are some of the oilseeds that are grown around the city. It is also a center for the state?s steel and other industries. Raipur has many educational institutions and universities like Indian Institute of Management, National Institute of Technology, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Indira Gandhi Agricultural University, International Institute of Information Technology, etc. Although not a tourism-based city, Raipur has some places worth visiting such as the Shahid Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium, Shri Rajiv Lochan Mandir, Urja Park, Naya Raipur Central Park.
Punjab National Bank is the first bank which is Swadeshi and began with the authorized national capital. The business of PNB Bank was started on 12th April 1895. The PNB was the first bank which was entirely managed by the Indians along with the national capital. The bank has spread its network with 6900 branches across India out of which 62% branches are in rural and semi-urban areas. The bank is operating a transformational exercise named as "Mission Parivartan" a think tank division for business excellence to improve the efficiency, profitability, and productivity of the bank for long-term sustenance. In digital banking, the bank has gone under several developments such as the opening of "PNB DIGI-HUT" the first proof of concept model of the digital branch launched at the Dwarka head office. The bank has also introduced an Integrated Fee Portal for its customers to enable fee payments through internet banking gateway. RBI approved the bank to act as Bharat Bill Payment Operating Unit which was made live on September 2017. The bank took some initiatives for driving financial inclusion in fiscal 2018, such as biometrics based aadhar seeding and authentication of the existing customers. It also introduced Atal Pension Yojana registration facility at the Business Correspondent locations.
