Ghaziabad is a large and developing city in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. This city comes under the National Capital Region (NCR). Ghaziabad is often referred to as the Gateway to the state of Uttar Pradesh because of its proximity to New Delhi. This fast-growing city has a population of more than 2 million. The city was founded in 1740 by Wazir Ghazi-ud-din. He named it ?Ghaziuddinnagar? after himself. A large area in Ghaziabad, especially the banks of the Hindon river, used to be a picnic spot for the royal family during the Mughal period. The city has two divisions that are separated by the Hindon River: the Trans-Hindon region on the west and the Cis-Hindon region on the east. It has turned into a major industrial and commercial hub of western Uttar Pradesh. The industrial growth in Ghaziabad took off soon after independence when a number of steel manufacturing units opened in the area. Electronics industry followed and a lot more major industrial houses set up their manufacturing units in Ghaziabad.

The PNB was the first bank which was entirely managed by the Indians along with the national capital. The bank has spread its network with 6900 branches across India out of which 62% branches are in rural and semi-urban areas. The bank is operating a transformational exercise named as "Mission Parivartan" a think tank division for business excellence to improve the efficiency, profitability, and productivity of the bank for long-term sustenance. In digital banking, the bank has gone under several developments such as the opening of "PNB DIGI-HUT" the first proof of concept model of the digital branch launched at the Dwarka head office. The bank has also introduced an Integrated Fee Portal for its customers to enable fee payments through internet banking gateway. RBI approved the bank to act as Bharat Bill Payment Operating Unit which was made live on September 2017. The bank took some initiatives for driving financial inclusion in fiscal 2018, such as biometrics based aadhar seeding and authentication of the existing customers. It also introduced Atal Pension Yojana registration facility at the Business Correspondent locations.
