shahjahanpur is a town, a municipal corporation as well as the district headquarters of the Shahjahanpur District in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. Shahjahanpur was founded by Dilir Khan and Bahadur Khan after they had suppressed the rebellious Katheria Rajputs in the region. These founders were the sons of Dariya Khan, a soldier in the Mughal army during Emperor Jahangirs reign. Indian freedom fighters Ashfaqulla Khan and Ram Prasad Bismil hailed from Shahjahanpur. The city of Shahjahanpur lies at the junction of the Khannaut and Garra rivers. Shahjahanpur is known for its eminent sarod players like Enayat Ali and Ustad Murad Ali Khan. The Rosa Thermal Power Plant in the vicinity of the city contributes towards the economy of Shahjahanpur. Crops such as wheat, gram, millet and potatoes are cultivated in Shahjahanpur. There are a handful of good educational institutions in the area.
