Narasaraopet is situated in the Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh. The municipal town functions as the headquarter of the Narasaraopet revenue division and the Narasaraopet Mandal. Narasaraopet has received its name from a wealthy landlord who earlier owned most of the surrounding areas, known as Narasa Rao. This town is the major commercial trading center in the Guntur district. it also has a lot of educational institutes. The town is surrounded by many engineering, dental, PG and pharmacy colleges. The town of Narasaraopet was built on flat land surrounded by hilly extensions of the Eastern Ghats. Narasaraopet experiences exceptionally hot summers and mild winters. Monsoon rains are concentrated in the months of July?September. The town is home to more than 1 lakh residents who mostly speak in Telugu. A major religious fair dedicated to Lord Shiva is held at Kotappakonda located near Narasaraopet and it is an attractive tourist destination.
The Federal Bank Limited based in Kochi, Kerala is a major private sector commercial bank. The Federal Bank had 1252 branches and 1680 ATMs across the country, as on 31 March 2016. The Pattamukkil Varattisseril Brothers gathered together to discuss the necessary steps to be taken to form a bank, on 7th April 1931 at Pattamukkil Varattisseril Tharavad. Among the founders of the bank are Pattamukkil Varattisseril Oommen Geevarghese, and his brothers Oommen Kurian, Oommen George Oommen Chacko. The Oommen Chacko was the managing director, and the Oommen Geevarghese was the founder chairman. The limitation of interest by the Travancore Debt Relief Act, 1941 and The Travancore Agriculturists Relief Act, 1939, greatly influenced the smooth functioning of the bank. On 2 December 1949, the bank was named Federal Bank Limited, after the completion of formalities of Banking Regulation Act, 1949. Anyone having an Aadhaar Card and PAN Card, can open a Savings Bank Account and get their Account Number instantly using a mobile from anywhere through the new avatar of Fedbook. In August 2016, Lotza, the Unified Payment Interface app was launched by the Federal Bank.
