Gandhidham is located in the Kutch District in the Indian state of Gujarat. The town was built in the 1950s by Bhai Pratap Dialdas for the resettlement of the refugees from Sindh after the partition of India. It was initially called Sindhu Resettlement Corporation Ltd. The town was named after Mahatma Gandhi who was the father of the Indian nation. Gandhidham is considered to be the economic capital of Kutch. It is a rapidly developing city in the state. The Federal Bank Limited based in Kochi, Kerala is a major private sector commercial bank. The Federal Bank had 1252 branches and 1680 ATMs across the country, as on 31 March 2016. The Pattamukkil Varattisseril Brothers gathered together to discuss the necessary steps to be taken to form a bank, on 7th April 1931 at Pattamukkil Varattisseril Tharavad. Among the founders of the bank are Pattamukkil Varattisseril Oommen Geevarghese, and his brothers Oommen Kurian, Oommen George Oommen Chacko. The Oommen Chacko was the managing director, and the Oommen Geevarghese was the founder chairman. The limitation of interest by the Travancore Debt Relief Act, 1941 and The Travancore Agriculturists Relief Act, 1939, greatly influenced the smooth functioning of the bank. On 2 December 1949, the bank was named Federal Bank Limited, after the completion of formalities of Banking Regulation Act, 1949. The Federal Bank introduced FedBook, the first electronic passbook in August 2013. The FedBook is a mobile application using which customers can check their passbook details. Federal Bank and SBI Card launched Federal Bank-SBI two co-branded Visa credit cards, namely Platinum and Gold N More in May 2015. In July 2015, an automated chat facility was introduced by the Federal Bank. Federal Bank launched Indias first Mobile App for Bank Account Opening in August 2015, creating history. As an upgrade to FedBook, e-Passbook App was launched by the bank as a unique facility of mobile-based bank opening. Anyone having an Aadhaar Card and PAN Card, can open a Savings Bank Account and get their Account Number instantly using a mobile from anywhere through the new avatar of Fedbook. In August 2016, Lotza, the Unified Payment Interface app was launched by the Federal Bank.
