Amritsar, historically remembered as Ramdaspur or Ambarsar, is a city in the north Indian state of Punjab. Rivers Beas and Ravi, distributaries of the great Indus River, flow through two edges of this city. It is esteemed as a holy place by the Sikh community as it hosts the famous Golden Temple.
