The historic city of Panipat is located in the Indian state of Haryana. The three huge battles were fought near this city in 1526, 1556 and 1761, which were all major turning points in the Indian history. The city is well-known in the area by its nickname the "City of Weavers" and "Textile City." It is the global center for recycling textiles. According to the Hindu epic Mahabharata, Panipat was one of the five cities or prasthas that were founded by the Pandavas and was named Pandavaprastha in the ancient time. The city houses the Panipat Refinery and the Panipat Thermal plant. It has a population of around 9 lakh people with an average literacy rate of 87%. Few places of tourist interest in the city are the Panipat Museum, Hemus Samadhi Sthal, Ibrahim Lodhis Tomb, Baburs Kabuli Bagh Mosque, Salar Ganj Gate, Kala Amb, etc. The city is well connected to all the nearby regions through roads and railway.
The Axis bank was founded in 1993 as UTI Bank. It is headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra and as of 2018, the bank has a network of 3,703 branches. It has the most extensive ATM network among the private banks. In 2007, the UTI Bank name was changed to Axis Bank. It commenced its operations in 1993 after the GOI allowed the establishment of new private banks. The first branch of the bank was inaugurated in 1994 in Ahmedabad by Mr.Manmohan Singh, who was the Finance Minister of India at that time. The UTI bank was promoted by the Unit Trust of India, LIC, General Insurance Corporation, Oriental Insurance Corporation and few other insurance companies. It became the first bank to launch the travel currency card in 2003 and got listed on London Stock Exchange in 2005. The first overseas branch of UTI Bank was opened in Singapore in 2006 and 2011 it opened an office in Colombo. Deepika Padukone, an actor from Bollywood industry, is the brand ambassador of the Axis Bank. As of March 2016, the bank had more than 50,000 employees. In mobile banking, the bank has introduced Axis pay to facilitate the payments through UPI Interface.
