Patiala is situated in the Indian state of Punjab. It is the administrative capital of Patiala District. The administration of the city is done through 57 wards which are administered by an elected representative. The city is located around the Qila Mubarak or the Fortunate Castle which was constructed in 1763 by the chieftain of the royal dynasty of the Patiala State, Baba Ala Singh. Patiala is the fourth largest city in Punjab and it houses the National Institute of Sports. Patiala was traditionally an agriculture-based economy. The bank was started in Kolkata with an issued capital of ?2 crores and a paid-up capital of ?1 crore. The Board of Directors of UCO Bank included notable personalities of India alongside Shri Ghanshyam Das Birla as its chairman. The bank opened 14 branches simultaneously across India. Presently Mr.Ravi Krishan Takkar is the chairman and MD of UCO Bank.
