State Bank of Travancore or SBT was founded in 1945 as a part of SBI but with private shareholdings. It has now merged with State Bank of India.

Since its merger with SBI, all the operations of SBT are handled by SBI.

General Helpline: You can reach the general helpline by calling at 1800 425 5566 or 1800 425 7733 which are the old Customer Care Numbers of SBT. You could also try calling 1800 425 3800 which is the general helpline number of SBI.

Credit Card Toll-Free Number: You can dial 1800 180 1290 to reach the 24 x 7 toll-free Credit Card Customer Care helpline. In case you might have lost your Credit Card or your Credit card has been stolen, call 1860 180 1290 or (Prefix your city code) 3902 0202 for immediate assistance.

Missed call service: You can use SBI's missed call service, to access information pertaining to your SBI Credit Card. Use your registered mobile number and give a missed call to 8422845512 for Balance Enquiry, 8422845513 to know your available credit and cash limit, 8422845514 for Reward Point Summary, and 8422845515 for last payment status. The response will be sent to your registered mobile number via SMS.

SMS Service: Use your registered mobile number and send a message to 5676791 with the request code to access your account information. Please note that **** refer to the last four digit of your SBI card. Here is a list of important request codes:

  1. For Balance Enquiry type BAL ****
  2. For available credit and cash limit, type AVAIL ****
  3. To block your lost or stolen card, type BLOCK ****
  4. To track your last payment status, type PAYMENT ****
  5. To know your Reward point summary, type REWARD ****
  6. To subscribe to e-statement, type ESTMT ****
  7. To request a duplicate statement, type DSTMT **** MM (MM stands for statement month)

Grievance Redressal

SBI (earlier SBT) is known for putting in their best efforts to redress all complaints quickly and effectively. There are several well-structured methods of grievance redressal. If a query requires extra time for redressal or response, SBI will keep you updated on the developments.

Personal Card Holders: If you have an SBI (earlier SBT) Personal Card, follow the steps mentioned below to get your doubts clarified.

Step 1. Call the customer care at 1860 180 1290, or 1800 180 1290 or 3902 0202 (Prefix local the STD code) in between 8 am to 8 pm on all working days.

Step 2.Unhappy with the outcome of Step 1? The SBI website has an escalation matrix. The escalation matrix allows you to escalate an issue to a higher level. You can use it by entering the Interaction ID number that you might have received when you made a complaint earlier by following the previous two steps. You also need to enter the OTP that will be sent to your registered mobile number. Alternatively, you can send a postal mail to the Manager of Customer Services at this address:

Go to step 3 if this too does not help.

Step 3: Contact the Grievance Redressal Officer if your issue is still unresolved. Write to him at the following address:

Corporate Card Holders: If you have an SBI Corporate card, first try Step 1 and 2 as listed under Personal Card. If these don't resolve your problem, contact the Manager of Corporate Customer Service.

The highest level of escalating a problem related to a Corporate Card within SBI would be by writing to the AVP - Corporate Customer Management.

The Banking Ombudsman: The Banking Ombudsman Scheme, launched by the Reserve Bank of India in 2006 says that in case you do not receive a satisfactory response from a bank within 30 days of lodging a complaint, you can approach the Banking Ombudsman. This is the highest level of escalating a grievance.
